Don't Just Dream; Make Your Dream A Reality

This is a response to the one-word prompt, “dream” by “The Daily Post.”

We all have dreams and hopes for the future, everyone does. It is a part of being human. The thing is we don’t all pursue our dreams. For whatever reason, be it we don’t think our dreams are attainable or we are just afraid of failing. The thing is, what good is a dream or hope for the future if all it remains is a dream? There is no use dreaming about something or someone that we want if we do nothing with the dreams.

When we have dreams, we do so for a reason, it is because we want something in life. We want something more than what we have currently; when we have the dream. So what is holding us back from pursuing our dreams in most cases? Fear, fear of not succeeding in our dreams and fear that our dreams are just that dreams. This fear need not hold us back and indeed is quite  irrational. For one, if we don’t ever take that first plunge, we will never know if there is any substance to our dreams or not.

If one never, at least tries to pursue one’s dreams of what they want in life, they never will know if what they want is achievable or not. If one fails, well, so be, but better to have failed and learned from that failure than to have never reached for that dream in the first place and have it always dangling in front of you, taunting you. Plus, if you do fail,that may still not be the end of your dream, it may require a couple of tries before reaching fulfillment. You will know more after that first shot at going for your dream/s.

What is the point of life if you don’t take a little risk to find and attain enjoyment in life? We have dreams/hopes for a reason, and that is to go out and reach for something more in life. So if you have a dream for the future in your life, go out and reach for it. Don’t be afraid of a little failure here and there, on the way to bringing that dream to reality.
