Life Is Like A Stairway

This is a response to the one-word prompt “Stairway” by “The Daily Post.”

One’s life can be and often is comparable to a stairway, a very long and winding stairway that is. If you have ever gone up or down a flight of stairs in an office building or somewhere else then you know what I am talking about. The experience is not necessary very hard work or tiring though it can be sometimes, but it is very time consuming and daunting. If you think about it, that is exactly how our lives usually are. It does not matter when your life goes up or down you have to pass each step along the way.

When was the last time that you went up or down a particular long flight of stairs? How did  you feel during and after that process? Now think of some of your more challenging or not so challenging obstacles that you have to or have faced in your every day life. Were what you were feeling and experiencing in any way similar to what you experienced in the stairway?

Most times, when we go up or down a flight of stairs, we don’t really put much though into   the act itself other then at the end when we may or may not be a little winded. This is the same with the stairs of life, most times we don’t put much thought into them, until afterwords.  Stairways like any and every obstacle in life are just there and we have to just deal with them to get where we are needing to go. And we tend to do this when they appear in our lives, which is why we don’t think of them much except at the ends of particular long and winding “stairway.”
