This post is a response to the one word prompt “Divide” by “The Daily Post.”

The United States is more divided than it has ever been in its history perhaps even more so than in the period leading up to the civil war. Our politics is so divided that we can get hardly anything done at the national level of government and to some extent even the state and local levels as well. The divide is so great and so large that it is reaching all levels of society and government. Nothing is secured any more.

In politics its self whenever a new proposal at any level  is put forward or a new issue comes forward, it is almost always from the start a well a political issue, with everyone taking sides. No matter what side it is on, Republican, Democrat, Conservative, or Liberal, everything is immediately partisan. Really do we see anything that has bipartisan support any more. And when we do see it, it comes as a surprise and is treated with so much coverage and talk in the media as if it was such strange and unnatural thing to not take sides.

With everything that is wrong with this country’s politics and government, all of it comes back to the fact that we as a nation are too decided. If we do not learn to come together despite our many differences like we have historically done throughout this great nation’s history then we will never solve any of our problems. To be divided is never good and creates only unhappiness.
